Elegance and inert inside coating
On the one hand, Alucaps can replace poly-laminate caps for a finish without bond seam; on the other hand, provided the bottles are the right shape, aluminium is also suitable as a cost-efficient replacement for tin caps. To achieve highest levels of food safety, every BT-Watzke cap is coated on the inside which makes it the only cap in the world equipped with this additional protective measure benefitting consumers. Moreover, the coating lowers friction during application for an even prettier finish and better processability.

The processing of aluminium capsules can be fully automated and integrated into filling lines:
1. Assembly – Capsules are loaded in sticks into the filling machine’s magazine
2. Separation – Automatic separation and feeding to the bottle
3. Placement – The cap is precisely placed on the bottle mouth
4. Rolling – The rolling head forms the cap securely and cleanly onto the bottle
Important for bottlers:
- The capping machine or capping head must be compatible with the cap type and bottle neck
- Ensure that the cap specifications and equipment are compatible
The aluminum capsule combines two key functions:
Protective function:
- Hygienic protection of the bottle opening – protects the cork and bottle opening from dust, dirt, and external influences during storage and transport
- Tamper-evident protection – a damaged capsule immediately alerts the consumer to possible tampering
Aesthetic function:
- High-quality bottle finish – creates the first visual impression
- Brand ambassador – individually printed and/or embossed, the capsule becomes the bottle’s calling card
Yes – manual processing is easily feasible for small batch sizes and small businesses:
- Benchtop capper – a compact, cost-effective solution for manual cap processing
- Bottle by bottle – manually place the cap on and roll it on to ensure a secure fit
- No major investment required – ideal for small businesses, direct sellers, and distilleries with seasonal needs
- Processing without a machine (“by hand”) is not possible.
No – when properly installed, aluminum capsules do not affect the taste of the bottle’s contents.
- No contact with the contents – the aluminum capsule seals the bottle opening from the outside and does not come into direct contact with the wine or spirits
- All materials meet food safety requirements in accordance with EN ISO 22000:2018
For maximum safety, we recommend using certified products and adhering to the recommended storage and handling guidelines.
Yes – aluminum capsules are recyclable. Aluminum is one of the most valuable and efficiently recyclable raw materials available:
- Fully recyclable – aluminium can be melted down and reused
- High material value – aluminium recycling saves up to 95% of the energy required for primary production
Active contribution to the circular economy – sustainable use of raw materials throughout the entire value chain
Both materials have their strengths—the choice depends on positioning, budget, and the desired brand image:
Aluminum capsule:
lightweight, stiffer material / very good roll-on performance, less smooth / mid-range to premium segment
Tin capsule:
soft, heavy material / perfect roll-on performance, smooth / premium and luxury segments
